Photo recognition: Extra spaces between Chinese characters are automatically removed, then Chinese words are grouped for tapping. JPG, PNG or WebP uses a browser-based Chinese OCR engine which is downloaded the first time you use it. OCR is not perfect, so please check every character above before saving. Selectable-text PDFs are extracted directly; scanned pages are sent through the same OCR process. Internet is required to load OCR components. No API key is needed.

For arbitrary new passages, you can load a full CC-CEDICT Chinese–English dictionary. It greatly improves automatic word definitions and segmentation. Download once online, then this browser can cache it. You can also choose a CC-CEDICT plain-text file from your device.
